A Quick Self-Check
Nobody can diagnose a gambling problem from a list, but honest answers to a few questions can show whether your play is drifting. Ask yourself:
- Do I spend more money or time gambling than I planned to?
- Have I tried to win back money I lost by playing again straight away?
- Do I borrow, or use money meant for bills, to keep playing?
- Do I feel restless, anxious or irritable when I cannot gamble?
- Has gambling caused arguments, or have I hidden it from people close to me?
- Am I neglecting work, study or family because of the time I spend playing?
If one or more answers is yes, it is worth acting early. LEON also links to a confidential self-assessment quiz from the Responsible Gambling Council.
Limits You Can Set on Your Account
Every LEON Casino account comes with two spending controls. Both are managed from your account profile, and by default neither is set, so you choose whether and how to use them.
| Control | What it limits | Periods available |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | The total you can add to your account | Daily, weekly or monthly |
| Wagering limit | The total amount of bets you can place | Daily, weekly or monthly |
A deposit limit protects your budget before money reaches your balance. A wagering limit controls how much you stake, which matters if you tend to keep re-betting winnings. You can also combine them: a monthly deposit cap that matches their entertainment budget and a daily wagering cap that stops a single session from running away.
Changing a Limit and Cooling-Off Periods
Limits are set on the “Manage deposit limits” and “Manage wagering limits” pages of your profile. Changes are applied automatically once you click “Apply”.
Lowering a limit is always possible, at any time. Raising or removing one is deliberately harder: you may not ask for a deposit or wagering limit to be lifted before the end of the period it was set for. That built-in cooling-off stops a decision made in a bad moment from undoing a decision made with a clear head. If a period has ended and you want a higher limit, think about why before you change it.
We also recommend regular breaks of your own. Step away from the screen, set a timer on your phone, and do not chase a loss in the same sitting.
Taking a Break or Excluding Yourself
When limits are not enough, self-exclusion blocks gambling on your account altogether. It runs through the same deposit-limit page:
- Temporary self-exclusion: set your deposit limit to 0 for six months. Our system will not let you lift it until the six months have passed.
- Permanent self-exclusion: set the 0 deposit limit indefinitely. This bars you from playing on our website permanently.
You can also ask for self-exclusion by sending a written request to the support team, and it is dealt with right away. Self-exclusion is an account-level tool enforced by LEON's own systems under our licence. It is not connected to any government-run national register, so it applies to your LEON account only; if you play elsewhere, use the tools those operators offer and consider the device blocking described below.
If we have reason to believe gambling is becoming a problem for you, we may also limit your account temporarily or start a self-exclusion for your protection.
Free Support in New Zealand
You do not have to deal with this alone, and help outside LEON costs nothing:
- Gambling Helpline: call 0800 654 655 or text 8006, free, 24 hours a day. The service offers support, information and referral to other gambling support agencies. Website: gamblinghelpline.co.nz.
- Problem Gambling Foundation (PGF): freephone 0800 664 262, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm. Website: pgf.nz.
Both services are free and confidential.
Software can add another layer of control. Blocking tools such as Gamban or BetBlocker restrict access to gambling sites across your phone and computer, and they work alongside the limits and exclusions on your account. Parents can use parental-control software to keep children away from gambling sites.
The Licence Behind These Tools
These controls are not a voluntary extra. LEON's Responsible Gambling Policy is part of the Terms and Conditions, and the platform is operated by Jade Reef Ventures Corp. under Licence No. ALSI-202410001-FI1 issued by the Government of the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, Union of Comoros. If you believe a responsible gambling request was not handled properly, you can complain to our support team and, if the matter is not resolved, escalate it to Anjouan Gaming as described in our Terms and Conditions.
Reaching Out Is Never a Burden
Asking for help is a sign of control, not a failure. Our support team is available 24/7 by live chat and at [email protected], free of charge, and treats every request about limits, breaks or exclusion in confidence and without judgement. You can contact us before anything goes wrong, simply to set your limits up, or at any point when gambling stops feeling like fun. Return to the LEON Casino New Zealand home page whenever you are ready.
