What LEON Casino Collects When You Play
At LEON Casino we ask only for information that has a job to do. It falls into six groups:
- Identity: first name, last name and date of birth, entered on the sign-up form.
- Contact: email address, phone number, city and residential address.
- Account settings: your password, your country and the currency you choose, which can be New Zealand dollars.
- Verification (KYC): a scan or colour photo of a national ID card, passport or driving licence. Before a withdrawal we may ask for more, such as a photo of you holding your passport or a utility bill.
- Financial: the deposits and withdrawals you make, the payment methods you use and the name on them, because every method must be registered to you. We do not store your bank card details.
- Usage and technical: your bets and game activity, changes made to your account, and technical information from your device and connection that lets us confirm where you are playing from.
If you enter a bonus code when you register, we record it as well.
Why Each Piece of Data Is Needed
Not every item is collected for the same reason, and the difference matters when you decide what to agree to:
| Purpose | What it covers | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| Running your account | Identity, contact, account settings and financial data needed to take deposits, settle bets and pay out | No |
| Legal duties | Identity checks, source-of-funds checks and record-keeping required by anti-money-laundering rules and our licence | No |
| Preventing fraud and abuse | Monitoring of linked accounts, unusual transactions and automated play, plus location checks for restricted territories | No |
| Marketing | Email and SMS newsletters with offers and news | Yes |
When you register you agree to receive emails, including marketing, and newsletters may also come by SMS. You can switch marketing off at any time in your account settings, and doing so does not affect your account, your balance or messages we must send you about your account.
Storage and Security Measures
Data you send to us travels over encrypted connections. Stored sensitive data can only be reached through strict technical and operational access controls, and account passwords are kept as cryptographic hashes rather than in readable form. Inside the platform we keep an audit trail of changes made to player accounts, watch for accounts that appear to be linked to one another, and a withdrawal may stay pending while we run security checks or ask for extra documents. Play by bots or other automated programs is prohibited and treated as fraud.
Security also depends on you. Use a password you do not use anywhere else, keep your email account protected, and never send your password or a verification code to anyone, including someone who claims to work for us. If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password and contact support straight away.
Sharing With Payment, Verification and Game Partners
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it to unrelated businesses. Sharing is limited to the parties who need part of it to deliver the service or to meet a legal duty:
- Payment processing: Chessmate Limited, Reg. No. HE 461012, Larnaca, Cyprus, is the appointed payment agent for Jade Reef Ventures Corp. Your payment details also pass to the payment service you choose.
- Identity and fraud checks: providers that help us verify documents and detect fraud receive the data needed for that check.
- Game providers: studios that supply games see what they need to run your session and settle results.
- Regulator and authorities: if we detect fraud, we may report it to the regulator or to law enforcement and let them inspect the relevant account data. Complaints escalated to Anjouan Gaming, and disputes passed to the eCOGRA alternative dispute resolution service, include the information needed to review them.
When Data Leaves New Zealand
LEON is not run from New Zealand. The operator is registered in Belize, its licence comes from Anjouan in the Union of Comoros, and its payment agent is in Cyprus, so information you give us is handled outside New Zealand.
IPP 12 of the Privacy Act 2020 deals with exactly this situation: personal information should only be disclosed overseas where it will be protected in a way comparable to New Zealand law, or where another permitted ground applies. We limit each transfer to the parties described above and to the data they need for their role. If you want to know where a specific category of your data is handled, ask us using the contact details at the end of this page.
How Long Records Are Kept
Our rule is that personal data is not kept longer than is necessary for the purpose it was collected for. We keep your information while your account is open. Closing an account does not erase everything at once: records of your identity, transactions and verification are kept afterwards for the period that anti-money-laundering rules and our licence require, because we may have to show them to an authority. Marketing preferences and data that no legal duty covers are not kept for that period. When the required period ends, records are deleted or anonymised. The length of that period depends on the type of record and the duty behind it, so if you want to know how long a particular record will be held, ask us.
Your Rights Under the Privacy Act 2020
You have the right to ask for the personal information we hold about you (IPP 6) and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong (IPP 7). You can also ask us to delete information or to stop using it for marketing.
How to use these rights:
- Email [email protected] from the address registered to your account and say which right you are using.
- Include your account number so we can find your records quickly.
- We may ask you to confirm your identity before we release or change anything, so that your data never goes to the wrong person.
Deletion works within the limits described above: information we are legally required to keep stays until that duty ends, and we tell you if part of a request cannot be completed for that reason. Unsubscribing from marketing emails needs no request at all; the switch is in your account settings.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, the body in New Zealand that deals with complaints under the Privacy Act 2020.
Cookies on This Site
This information website does not set analytics, advertising or login cookies. On LEON's platform, cookies keep you signed in, remember your preferred language and analyse traffic, and advertising cookies there are only set with your consent. The categories, how long they last and how to control them are explained in our Cookie Policy.
Players Under 18
LEON Casino New Zealand is for adults only. We do not knowingly hold data about anyone under 18 and we run identity and age checks to keep minors out. If we find that an account belongs to someone under the legal age, the account is suspended at once, pending deposits and withdrawals are frozen, any winnings and bonuses are void, and the net amount deposited is refunded to the original payment method. We keep only the records needed to document what happened.
Privacy Requests and Contact
